TOMMY LEE Bassist MARTY O'BRIEN Records Song For Tsunami Relief
January 19, 2005Bassist Marty O'Brien (TOMMY LEE, 3 FACED, ex-KILGORE) has posted the following message on his web site:
"[Last Friday, Jan. 14] I recorded a song for tsunami relief. The song was written by Jason Miller [GODHEAD] and by the time all the vocals are recorded, the list of celebrity guest singers will be gigantic. We tracked it at NRG Studios in North Hollywood. Stephen Perkins (JANE'S ADDICTION, METHODS OF MAYHEM) played drums, and then added some incredible percussion tracks with a talking-drum and a dumbek. Later, Josh Freese (A PERFECT CIRCLE, VANDALS, STING) came in and also played drums.
"I played fretless bass on the song, and I'm really happy the way it came out. P-Nut from 311 stopped by too and played some bass on it as well. The band TRAPT were recording nearby, so we asked their guitarist, Simon, to stop in and lay a track. As the week progresses, more and more guest musicians will come in and lay down tracks on the song. It's all for a good cause and all the proceeds will be donated to the relief funds for people affected by the tsunami."
